📰 News we're reading

1. NO. 26-2-10699-7 -SUMMONS (tacomadailyindex.com) — A Pierce County quiet-title lawsuit is moving forward, and the summons directs defendants to respond within 60 days of Aug. 24, 2026. The case is handled by a law firm based on South Meridian in downtown Puyallup, underscoring local legal activity that could affect ownership of county property.

2. Nintendo Fan Loses Nearly Complete NES Collection in Heartbreaking Theft (polygon.com) — A longtime Puyallup resident returned home to find more than 860 classic Nintendo games stolen, wiping out a nearly complete NES collection built over 40 years. The loss, valued up to $100,000, devastated the family, who had hoped the collection might one day help fund their grandchildren's education.

3. Pierce County city ends animal control agreement to cut costs. Here's the plan (thenewstribune.com) — Puyallup's partner agency Metro Animal Services is losing Milton as a client this fall, after the city opted to save money by shifting animal control to its own police department. The change highlights how the Sumner–Puyallup-operated service is stretched across multiple Pierce County cities and may prompt questions about future regional animal care arrangements.

4. Former Serviceman Who Preyed On Maryland Girl Through Snapchat Learns His Prison Fate (dailyvoice.com) — A former serviceman who was stationed in Puyallup has been sentenced to 15½ years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a Maryland girl he contacted on Snapchat.
