Issaquah HS Student Arrested After Social Media Threat

The teen girl posted a threat on Sunday, police said. She was arrested on a felony harassment charge.

ISSAQUAH, WA — An Issaquah High School student was arrested on Sunday for posting a threat against the school on social media, Issaquah police said.

Police did not reveal what the threat said, just that it contained "inappropriate and threatening language." The teen girl was taken to the King County juvenile jail on a charge of felony harassment.

"Officers immediately started to investigate, and worked in cooperation with the Issaquah School District. Officers quickly arrested the suspect, who is an Issaquah resident," police said in a statement Sunday.

The high school will hold classes as usual this week, police said.

Last December, Issaquah High School was placed on lockdown after a report of someone with a gun at the school. No weapons were found. That same day, Skyline High School in Sammamish was placed on lockdown after a threat was found written on a boys' bathroom wall. In October 2016, a person emailed a bomb threat to Issaquah High School, but classes went ahead as planned after police searched the school.
