Christina Skally: Working as a stylist, I have noticed that people want a style that fits their life and makes them feel a spark. In my opinion, there are really three core essentials to looking and feeling your best in what you wear. The Fit, Function and Feeling of your clothes are essential to creating the ideal look for you and truly showing your personal style. I call them the Three Keys of Styling:

  1. Fit – if it doesn’t flatter it doesn’t work.
  2. Function – does it compliment your lifestyle.
  3. Feeling – does it make you feel amazing.

I work with clients to make sure they are making good choices for not only their body type but also their need and lifestyle. In the long run, this will actually save them time and money. I want them to have more outfits than random pieces in their closets, and fantastic options to mix and match with little effort so they can spend time doing what they love.

Grand Ridge Plaza: What are your favorite looks for summer?

Christina Skally: Great question, I am so loving the 2019 Pantone Color of the Year, Living Coral. It's such a gorgeous shade for so many. You can do a little or a lot. It could be an accessory or a head-to-toe look. If you don't love the brighter coral, you can choose a darker or lighter shade because they are all on trend. You can wear it with some of the other spring/summer must-haves, like a floral print or animal prints or even an oversized blazer.

Grand Ridge Plaza: What's one of your favorite accessories or pieces that you can't live without? Something that's lasted the test of time?

Christina Skally: The one item that I couldn't live without in my closet and I always want my clients to have as well is a fabulous pair of dark wash premium denim. There are some amazing cuts out there that work well for a variety of body types and that have truly stood the test of time. Denim is a must, it's essential for every closet!

Grand Ridge Plaza: What fashion items should women consider replacing every year?

Christina Skally: While trends come and go, a basic white tee is a closet essential. But that perfect white tee needs to be replaced to stay perfectly white. I like to think of the white tee as an anchor piece. It will pair perfectly with a statement piece or printed bottoms or layered under your favorite jacket. It's a great way to start your outfit off with a blank slate and then build upon it. The white tee is so versatile and perfect for any day of the year.

Save the date and join us at Scout & Molly’s to meet Christina Skally on Saturday, May 4 from noon to 4 pm. Downing Pottery’s Sarah Woodson will also be here for a unique pop-up shop to get an early start on Mother’s Day shopping.

Scout & Molly’s is located at 927 NE Park Drive at Grand Ridge Plaza next to Frame Central Issaquah Highlands.
