SEATTLE — After a wet and stormy weekend, Western Washington is in for a well-deserved reprieve this week, but temperatures will run on the cold side and several nights will get near the freezing mark.

Strong winds and heavy rain over the weekend left more than 300,000 without power at the storm's peak, and efforts to restore power in Snohomish County stretched into Monday morning, triggering school delays and closures.

Most of the remaining precipitation should pass by Tuesday morning, but there is a chance for a rain-snow mix overnight for communities between 500 and 1,500 feet in elevation. With chilly overnight temperatures, morning commutes could be slick. Lingering winds should gradually calm, and the rest of the week looks mostly clear.

"Given wet roadways and cold temperatures, there will likely be slick spots on the roads [Monday night] and early Tuesday," NWS Seattle wrote Monday. "Fraser outflow will still continue through much of the day on Tuesday, making for breezy N/NE winds area-wide. Winds will not be as strong as Monday given a weakening pressure gradient as the surface low moves south."

Though the weather will be much calmer this week, both days and nights will be crisp. The Seattle area is forecast to see highs topping out at 45 degrees or lower through Sunday, with overnight lows dipping close to the freezing mark each day.
