Seattle shelter builder shuts down amid city's push to add 1,000 new units (kgw.com) — Seattle's push to add 1,000 new shelter and emergency housing units faces a complication as Everett-based Pallet, which built 75 units at the new Bayside Enhanced Shelter in Interbay, shuts down. Existing shelters will stay open, but future inspections, repairs, and parts aren't guaranteed, even as other tiny-house village projects and safe-parking sites move ahead across the city.

With no formal recall in place, health agencies are relying on consumers and local businesses to discard suspect sprouts, sanitize surfaces, and watch for serious symptoms.
   

3. Text messages reveal aftermath of Bite of Seattle mass shooting inside mayor's office (kiro7.com) — Seattle residents are getting a closer look at how City Hall handled July's Bite of Seattle mass shooting, as newly obtained texts show confusion over who should send alerts and when to brief the public. Messages between Mayor Katie Wilson's team and Seattle police reveal delays, frustration, and a decision not to activate the city's Alert Seattle system that night.
   

4. For this South Seattle Neighborhood, it's not the first time their homes have been hit by bullets (kiro7.com) — Neighbors in South Seattle's New Holly area are again repairing damage after a Tuesday night shootout sprayed more than 40 bullets across South Holly Street, striking at least five homes and three vehicles. While no one was hurt, residents describe dropping to the floor, remembering past shootings, and leaning on each other as police investigate the latest burst of gunfire.
   

5. Labor Day in Seattle? AAA says it's the top U.S. spot (king5.com) — Seattle is AAA's top U.S. destination for Labor Day weekend, bringing heavy cruise traffic, near-80% hotel occupancy, and tens of thousands of visitors to the waterfront. With 11 cruise ships in port, Mariners and Seahawks home games, and World Cup buzz, local businesses expect one of the city's busiest tourism stretches of the year.
