1 Pedestrian Killed, 3 Injured In Crash On Seattle Sidewalk

Seattle Police said four pedestrians were hit by a speeding car on an Aurora Avenue sidewalk Friday afternoon.

SEATTLE, WA — One person was killed, and three others injured, after a speeding car hopped a sidewalk on Aurora Avenue North Friday afternoon, according to Seattle Police. A large Seattle Fire response arrived on Aurora, near North 40th Street, around 1:15 p.m.

Witnesses told police the driver was heading northbound at high speeds and tried to make a right turn onto North 39th Street — instead hitting a street sign, several poles, and striking four people. The car then bounced off a pole and rolled onto Aurora.

According to SPD, the driver attempted to run away from the crash but was spotted by a witness who followed her and pointed the woman out to officers. She was interviewed by detectives and checked for signs of inebriation. SPD said the woman will likely be booked into King County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
