There are two separate investigations into the shooting being handled by Seattle police and the King County Sheriff's Office.
On Sunday, a Seattle officer opened fire on a man in Pioneer Square. The officer fired, police said, because the man was shooting at another person. Police do not know if the officer hit the man.
On March 19, officers shot and wounded an armed man during a confrontation in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. On Dec. 31, officers shot and killed Iosia Faletogo, 36, after a traffic stop along Aurora Avenue. Seattle police released dash and body cam videos of the shooting on Jan. 2. The videos show Faletogo fleeing from police, and then a struggle where multiple officers pile on top of him. Faletogo can be seen with a gun during the fatal encounter.
On Feb. 7, officers shot and killed a murder suspect in a North Seattle apartment. The suspect was armed with a knife at the time he was shot.
Force Investigation Team (FIT) detectives are responding to an officer-involved shooting in the 600 block of 3rd Avenue W. No officers have been injured. PIO Jamieson is headed to the scene. More details as they become available. Please avoid the area if possible.
