Pam Roach Swears At Dan Roach During County Council Meeting

It was mother versus son at last Friday's Pierce County Council Committee of the Whole meeting.

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA - He might be the vice chairman of the Pierce County Council, but she's still his mom. And apparently that means she can still put him in his place.

Pam Roach swore at her son, County Council Vice Chair Dan Roach, at a budget retreat last Friday. The exchange came as Dan Roach tried to cool down an argument between his mother and Councilman Derek Young.

Roach sent out a public apology about the incident last Friday afternoon, but she didn't specify what she had said. The Tacoma News-Tribune obtained audio from the meeting, which was held at the environmental services building at Chambers Bay, and published it on Tuesday night.

According to the News-Tribune, Pam Roach and Young were arguing about a mental health crisis center planned for Parkland. Dan Roach bangs a gavel and asks for the speakers to "stop," Pam Roach turns on him, according to a transcript from the News-Tribune.

"Go ahead and do it again," she dares him.

"Just stop," he replies.

"F--k you, I'm leaving," Pam Roach says and then walks out of the meeting.

Pam Roach is no stranger to brash behavior. Last year, County Executive Bruce Dammeier ordered county staff not to talk to her and instead communicate only in writing. He cited her "rude and unprofessional" behavior as the reason why.

In 2010 when Roach was a state senator, she was banned from the Republican caucus for allegedly abusing the Republicans' counsel, Robert Hoover. And last November, Pierce Councilman Rick Talbert reportedly gave Roach the finger after a testy exchange.

But Roach, a staunch Trump supporter, keeps her best insults for her arch enemy, the Democrats. In her apology note from last Friday, she ended with a dig at the party.

"It seems I've been listening to too many Democratic protesters lately," she wrote, explaining why she F-bombed her son.
