• Tacoma set to lose another Fred Meyer, this time in West End shopping center (thenewstribune.com) — Shoppers in University Place should know that Fred Meyer is closing its James Center store on South 19th Street in Tacoma, though the University Place Fred Meyer on Bridgeport Way will remain open as a nearby option. The closure, expected when the lease expires in January 2027, follows rising rental costs and comes after another Tacoma Fred Meyer shut down in 2025.
