Charleston plant showcases award-winning water treatment process (wchstv.com) — Charleston's Kanawha Valley Water Treatment Plant, which serves about 85,000 customers across the valley, is being highlighted for its award-winning process that draws and treats water from the Elk River. With more than $124 million in statewide upgrades announced, including major clarifier work at the Charleston facility, local tap water quality and reliability are set for further improvement.

Charleston church ministry helps prevent utility shutoffs (wowktv.com) — If you're in Charleston facing a utility shutoff, Christ Church United Methodist offers up to $100 in assistance and a listening ear every Tuesday to anyone with a valid ID and a termination notice. For 20 years, volunteers there have quietly helped neighbors keep lights and water on while also providing emotional support during some of their hardest moments.

3. New tool to tackle trespassing in Charleston (wsaz.com) — Charleston City Council has approved a new voluntary Trespass Enforcement Authorization Program letting businesses pre-authorize police to enforce trespassing laws when owners aren't on site. Participating Charleston properties will register with police and post notices, aiming to address recurring after-hours trespassing without creating any new criminal offenses.

Healthnet Aeromedical Services operating Mason County EMS service (wchstv.com) — Charleston-based HealthNet Aeromedical Services has taken over management of Mason County's EMS system under a new two-year contract that began August 1. County leaders say HealthNet's bulk purchasing and staffing model should save money, improve schedules for paramedics, and help attract more EMS workers as demand grows across the region.
