Club learns about cybersecurity issues (theintermountain.com) — Elkins Rotary members recently heard how West Virginia University’s Cyber-Resilience Resource Center can help local businesses, nonprofits, and governments strengthen cybersecurity at no cost. Speaker Frank Hatten explained practical protections like two-factor authentication, data backups, and compliance help, and invited organizations statewide—including those in Elkins—to request student-led assessments and training to reduce cyber risks.

2. Corridor H Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony (theintermountain.com) — Travel between Elkins, Kerens and Parsons just got safer and faster with the opening of an 11-mile four-lane stretch of Corridor H between Kerens and Parsons. State and federal leaders say the new section will cut emergency response times, boost tourism and commerce, and move the long-delayed highway closer to completion ahead of its 2034 target.

3. Elaine Michelle Runner (wdtv.com) — Family and friends in Elkins are mourning the passing of 65-year-old Elaine Michelle Runner, a lifelong local resident and Elkins High School graduate. Remembered for her simple, family-centered life, love of cooking, antiquing, and long drives with her daughter and dog, her cremation was requested and a memorial service will be announced later by Randolph Funeral Home.

Dr. Susan Long receives Outstanding Preceptor Award from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (wvnews.com) — Medical students have honored surgeon Dr. Susan Long with the 2026 Outstanding Preceptor Award for the Central East Region, which includes Elkins. Her work at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital highlights how community physicians across Buckhannon, Elkins and neighboring towns are shaping future doctors while keeping high-quality care close to home.
