• Wood County Assessor: Projected budget shortfall reduced by about two-thirds (wtap.com) — Wood County's assessor, based in Parkersburg, says a projected $357,000 budget shortfall has already been cut by about two-thirds through staff cuts, higher revenue estimates, and smaller cost savings. He vows not to seek a tax hike, instead aiming to fix bookkeeping issues and close the remaining gap internally before the fiscal year ends.
   

• Belpre man indicted for violating protection order 13 times (newsandsentinel.com) — Several Parkersburg residents are among 16 people indicted by a Washington County grand jury, including cases involving alleged drug offenses, escape, and failure to comply with police. The lead case centers on a Belpre man accused of repeatedly violating a protection order, while other charges span domestic violence, theft, and trafficking across the Mid-Ohio Valley.
   

• Governor Patrick Morrisey announces award at Chesapeake Healthcare Center as West Virginia distributes grants (wtap.com) — A major new healthcare grant is coming right to Parkersburg, with Spotted Owl Healthcare Organization and Chesapeake Healthcare Center receiving $1.17 million to expand services. The funding, announced locally by Gov. Patrick Morrisey, will support workplace-based care, preventive screenings, behavioral health, and chronic condition support aimed at improving health and job readiness for area residents.
