• Commission approves resolution opposing the Valley Link transmission project (wvnews.com) — Jackson County commissioners in Ripley have formally opposed the proposed Valley Link transmission line, urging residents to keep speaking up and submit comments before the Aug. 14 deadline. The meeting also highlighted growing need at Ripley Church of the Nazarene’s baby pantry, a proposed BrightMorr Village services hub, and progress toward putting county records online.

• Ripley moves projects forward, gives support to the Friends of Mill Creek (wvnews.com) — Ripley City Council has approved a major street paving contract and advanced a stormwater project from Viking Lane to the high school, both funded in part with ARPA dollars. Council also granted $3,000 to Friends of Mill Creek for volunteer insurance and gave the city clerk a raise, while leaving office space and board representation for the nonprofit undecided.

• Ripley teen earns national honor for outstanding Taekwondo dedication (wvnews.com) — A Ripley High School student has earned a national ā€œMost Dedicated Black Beltā€ honor, showcasing how years of training at Ripley Family Martial Arts transformed his confidence and leadership. Local instructors Spencer and Lesley Hill also received lifetime achievement awards, bringing national recognition back to their West Main Street dojang.
