• Around the Region June 3 (journal-news.net) — Shepherdstown Public Library is raising $200,000 by July 4 to install solar panels, cutting energy costs and freeing more money for books and community programs. Residents can donate online starting at $10, or dedicate a panel with a $1,000 gift. The project aims to boost sustainability while strengthening local services for all ages.
   

• US Marathons Ranked by Difficulty (gamblingsites.com) — Shepherdstown’s own Freedom’s Run Marathon is ranked the second-hardest marathon in the United States, thanks to its hilly course through Harpers Ferry, the C&O Canal, and Antietam National Battlefield. With significant elevation gain, slower average finish times, and a modest field, it’s billed as a challenging experience rather than a personal-record course. Local runners and volunteers help showcase Shepherdstown on a national stage.
