• Aquaculture Waste Opens Doors for Additional Revenue for American Fish Farmers (usda.gov) — Shepherdstown’s Freshwater Institute is at the center of new research turning fish-farm waste into a safe, marketable compost fertilizer. Scientists there, working with federal partners, showed that using a rotary drum composter and specific organic materials can quickly transform aquaculture solids into a low-pathogen, nutrient-rich product that farmers can use on their own land or sell for extra income.
