WVU students hosting sports equipment drive, 'Mini Day of Play' for flood-displaced middle school (wdtv.com) — WVU students are organizing a sports equipment drive and "Mini Day of Play" at Jackson's Mill in Weston to support Robert L. Bland Middle School students displaced by summer flooding. Residents can donate new or gently used gear by shipping or delivering items to Jackson's Mill Road, or by purchasing from an online wish list before the Oct. 14 event.
   

2. West Virginia Lions Clubs distribute flood recovery supplies in Weston (wvnews.com) — Lions Clubs from across North Central West Virginia gathered at Market Place Mall in Weston to hand out dehumidifiers and sprayers to residents recovering from the July 21 floods. Funded by a major Lions Clubs International grant, the effort supports ongoing home cleanup and highlights the strong cooperation among local groups helping Weston-area families rebuild.
   

3. West Virginia invests in AI voice recording technology for rural hospitals (wboy.com) — Weston's Mon Health Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital is one of five rural facilities receiving new state-funded AI voice recording technology to streamline medical documentation. Announced locally by Governor Patrick Morrisey, the system aims to cut paperwork time, reduce after-hours work for providers, and potentially let clinicians see more patients across rural West Virginia.
   

4. Obituary: Trefz, Theodore William (wtap.com) — Longtime Weston native Theodore William "Ted" Trefz, a former restaurateur, artist, and Stonewall Resort golf ranger, has died at 86. Raised and later retired in Weston, he remained active at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and with family. A Celebration of Life is planned Saturday, Oct. 3, at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with donations suggested to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
