WISCONSIN — Tim Michels has filed candidacy papers to run for governor of Wisconsin, according to a report published Friday by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Michels is known for his previous political bid, such as when he ran for U.S. Senate but lost in 2004 against Democrat Russ Feingold, as well as his ownership stake in Michels Corporation, according to the Journal Sentinel report. Michels Corporation is a Brownsville-based company that works in pipe fabrication, pipeline construction and electric utility work.

Michels' filing for candidacy brings the field of Republicans running for Wisconsin governor to four, according to the Journal Sentinel's report. Reports say Michels has bought television airtime with ads expected to start Monday.
