Wisconsin COVID-19 Case Average Highest Since January
State health services reported that average new COVID cases have reached levels as high as January's in an uptick that began in July.
WISCONSIN — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported a seven-day case average Thursday as high as those last seen in January.
Health services recorded 2,283 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday. The new figure brought the state's seven-day average to 1,584 cases per day.
The last time the seven-day average was this high was on Jan. 25, when the state recorded 1,255 new confirmed cases. That brought the seven-day average to 1,521 cases per day.

Health services listed five deaths for Thursday, raising the seven-day average to seven deaths per day. So far, there have been 7,577 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in Wisconsin.
A total of 653,362 Wisconsin residents have been infected with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, health services data said.

The age group with the highest confirmed cases was 20 to 29, which accounted for 18.7 percent of the total, or 122,026 cases.
The second-highest group was people 30-39, who made up 15.6 percent of the total, or 102,678 cases, health services data said. The third-highest group was 50-59, which made up 15 percent, or 97,699 cases.
Hospitalizations were the highest among people 80-89, who made up 31 percent of the total, or 5,442 hospitalizations, health services data said.
The second-highest group hospitalized were people over 90, who made up 30 percent of the total, or 1,940 hospitalizations. The third-highest group were people 70-79, who made up 20 percent of the total, or 7,252 hospitalizations.
