Appleton sees over 200,000 people attend this year's Octoberfest (wearegreenbay.com) — Octoberfest just brought more than 200,000 people to downtown Appleton's College Avenue, turning one of the city's biggest weekends into a packed day of music, food, and family activities. Organizers highlighted the traditional Spaten beer toast and Munich-inspired keg-tapping tribute that kicked off the celebration for Appleton residents and visitors alike.
   

2. Appleton sports bar gives away free cheeseburgers to celebrate Brewers' 100 wins (wbay.com) — An Appleton sports bar, The StoneYard, handed out hundreds of free cheeseburgers to celebrate the Milwaukee Brewers hitting 100 regular-season wins, drawing big neighborhood crowds. The community-focused restaurant used the giveaway to thank regulars, attract new customers, and showcase its burgers to Appleton residents who usually just order pizza.
   

3. New Wisconsin home options await at the Fox Cities Parade of Homes (wearegreenbay.com) — Home shoppers in and around Appleton will soon be able to tour ten newly built houses and several virtual and drive-by options during the Fox Cities Parade of Homes. Hosted by the Home Builders Association of the Fox Cities, the early-October event showcases a wide range of floor plans, styles, and finishes across the Fox Cities area.
   

4. Beef prices stay high in northeast Wisconsin, with no quick relief in sight (nbc26.com) — Appleton shoppers are paying significantly more for popular beef cuts, and local butchers say prices likely won't drop soon because Wisconsin cattle herds are at historic lows while demand stays strong. Stores in Appleton and nearby Kaukauna are shrinking steak portions and offering cash discounts as families across northeast Wisconsin cut back or switch meats to stretch tight grocery budgets.
   

5. Synthetic oil shortage drives up prices at local car repair shops (spectrumnews1.com) — Appleton drivers may see higher bills at their next oil change as synthetic oil shortages and price spikes hit local repair shops. One Appleton shop owner is still absorbing much of the increase to stay affordable, while nearby Kaukauna mechanics have already raised prices as synthetic and tire costs climb, especially for newer, fuel-efficient vehicles.
