At 1:30 pm this coming Sunday, February 26, local members of the 12-step program Overeaters Anonymous (OA) will gather online in celebration of Unity Day.

Observed annually across the globe, Unity Day is an opportunity for OA members worldwide – including those who attend more than 6,400 meeting groups in more than 80 countries – to pause and together reaffirm the strength inherent in OA’s unity. Locally, there are more than 30 meetings in the Eastern Wisconsin intergroup area.

“There is so much power and encouragement in knowing I’m not alone,” said Jonie M., a longtime member and past president of the local organization. “Unity Day is an opportunity for those of us with compulsive eating behaviors to come together, find strength in our unity, and celebrate our journeys toward recovery.”

The eastern Wisconsin-based OA intergroup – which includes local support meetings that take place weekly in Racine and Kenosha, up through Waukesha and Milwaukee, on to Appleton and Green Bay and beyond – will observe Unity Day with a one and one-half hour online program focused on the recovery that can be attained with support from the OA fellowship.

As part of the anonymous virtual event, attendees will have a chance to learn more about the program, hear personal stories of recovery, and identify local support group meetings. Prospective members and those who are simply curious about the OA program are always welcome to attend.
