Police Searching For Man Accused Of Fatal Hit-And-Run
Police say Juan Mata-Chavez was behind the wheel when his truck spun out, resulting in the death of a Milwaukee woman on Sunday.

MILWAUKEE, WI — Police have identified the man they're looking for related to a Sunday fatal crash on Milwaukee's south side that resulted in the death of a 43-year-old mother and the injury of her 13-year-old son.
Juan C. Mata-Chavez, 27, Milwaukee, has been charged with knowingly operating a vehicle While Revoked-Causing Death and Hit and Run Resulting in Death in connection with this crash. Police say that Mata-Chavez was driving with a revoked license. Anyone with information is asked to call Milwaukee Police at 414-935-7360.
Milwaukee Police responded to the serious crash that happened around 11:05 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4 in the 1500 block of W. Lincoln Avenue.

According to police, Mata-Chavez was driving a Ram pickup truck east on W. Lincoln Avenue at a high rate of speed. He lost control and collided with a Toyota Corolla that was driving west. According to surveillance footage, the Ram slid perpendicular to the driving lane, colliding with the Toyota before going airborne and colliding with several parked cars.
According to a WISN report, Monica Hernandez driving home from church with her 14-year-old son when their Toyota was truck by the truck.

Milwaukee police are reporting that after the crash, the occupants of the Ram, including Mata-Chavez fled the scene on foot. The driver of the Corolla, a 43-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and later died at a local hospital. A 13-year-old boy who was in the Corolla suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Police say that one of the passengers of the Ram, a 23-year-old woman, turned herself in late last night. Milwaukee police are now looking for Mata-Chavez who drove the Ram in the incident. The Milwaukee police say their investigation is ongoing.
