A/V Equipment for Public Meeting Room Could Cost Up to $50,000

Racine Unified board members have two options and are exploring both before making a final decision.

No matter which room Racine Unified board members decide to designate as its public meeting space, they will have to spend some money for audio/visual equipment to record meetings.

Outfitting one room (Room 225) is expected to cost just over $38,000 while the other choice (Room 142) could cost up to $49,000. Room 225 and Room 142 have occupancy limits of 124 and 189, respectively.

“I think there are advantages to having a permanent room,” said member Don Nielsen.

The money would come from the district’s community service fund, said David Hazen, chief financial officer for the district.

“I don’t recommend spending money on A/V equipment until we’re sure which room we want to use,” said President Bill Van Atta.

The board adopted a motion on Van Atta’s recommendation to start having meetings in Room 225 first and evaluate its needs at a later date.
