Future Doctor Has Commitment to Quality Healthcare
Kayla Pena has been a Certified Nursing Assistant while remaining active in school activities and clubs.

Kayla Pena has been very proud to be an active member of Case High School’s Health Youth Apprentice Program. Through this, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant at the age of 16 and has worked at both Wheaton Franciscan and Oakridge Care Center. She has also been a part of National Honor Society, Key Club, Expect Respect, and Positive Impact. Kayla came up through Racine Unified and was a student at Gifford and Starbuck. She’s also been a volunteer at North Park Elementary, where her mom is a teacher.
Kayla played both softball and volleyball at Case, but when playing softball earlier this year, she suffered a severe concussion from which she is still recovering. This experience has reinforced her decision to pursue a healthcare career, studying pre-med and biology at UW–Madison, with future goals to become a doctor of sports medicine and conduct research in pediatric concussions.
She is one of this year's Tim Westrich Memorial Scholarship recipients.
