Gov. Scott Walker Signs Foxconn $3 Billion Bill Into Law

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed the state's largest-ever incentive package into law - a $3 billion bill designed to lure Foxconn here.

STURTEVANT, WI — Surrounded by political allies, adversaries, and a raft of Wisconsin's top business leaders, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed the state's largest-ever incentive package into law - a $3 billion bill designed to lure electronics manufacturer Foxconn to Racine County.

Walker signed the $3 billion tax incentive package to lure Foxconn to construct a new $10 billion plant, most likely in Racine County.

Walker signed the bill Monday at the SC Johnson iMet Center just days after returning from a trade mission in South Korea and Japan.

"My belief is in seeking this new 8K technology in Osaka, and thinking about it being built right here in Wisconsin, I'm more than confident that this is going to happen," Walker said. "I believe we can produce the talent, the supply chain, the tools and the opportunities to make this not just successful, but to make this one of the most successful ventures in the history of the world."

Walker told the assembled media Monday that he hopes to have a contract in place and completed by Oct. 1 with a goal of breaking ground in 2018, and having the facility open by 2020.
