Is It Right to Stop Teaching Students to Write in Cursive?

As more and more Americans use computers/keyboards to do most of their written communication, is it right to stop teaching kids how to write in cursive?

thinks the skill still has value even though some districts across the country are discontinuing the practice. More, the Common Core State Standards for education have removed cursive writing from its curriculum. A recent story in The Journal Times addressed the issue, with even private schools throughout the county agreeing that knowing how to write in cursive still has value.
