Passport to Prom: Stories From the Big Day

Post Prom was an amazing success from where we stood both inside and outside the Sturtevant SportPlex. The gowns were amazing and there were a surprising number of white tuxedos on the young men accented with the colors from their date's dress.

Perhaps one of the highlights of the evening was learning that Park senior Melvin Bedford was named prom king. Bedford suffered a heart attack while playing basketball two years ago that resulted in global brain damage. Just seven months after he collapsed, Bedford returned to school, but doctors said he would never play basketball again. This past February, though, Bedford took to the court to make the first shot of Park's last regular season game.
