Poll: Is Post Prom Moving to Sturtevant a Good Thing?

Adults say "yay" while students say "nay." What do you say?

For the first time in decades, the Rotary Club's Post Prom celebration is moving from downtown Racine.

When students don their finery on May 19, 2012 they will climb aboard their fire engines and thunder up their muscle cars on their way to the Sturtevant Sportsplex in the Renaissance Business Park.

Patch readers have weighed in with most adults siding with the move and students giving it a ... less than enthusiastic reception.

Karen Itzenhuiser posted, "It's going to be perfect. More people will be able to see the parade. I'm looking forward to it."

But Rina, senior Racine Unified student said, "It's really disappointing news to find out that 60 years of tradition are being flushed down the toilet. I wanted the dream prom night down town, just like my mom & grandma had before me."
