Residents Invited to Racine Unified Budget Public Hearing
Property taxes are expected to rise to help close a hole in the budget.

The Racine Unified School District Board of Education will present the district's 2011-2012 budget on Aug. 15.
Members of the public will hear a presentation and then have the opportunity to ask questions.
David Hazen, chief finanical officer for the district, said at the Community Q & A on Aug. 1 that taxes will most likely go up about 6.9 percent to help close the hole in the budget.

"The state will release its report on the assessed value for the district in mid-August so we should have a pretty firm number after they forward those figures to us in the weeks after," he said."The 6.9 percent only holds if the assessed value doesn't come down."
The hearing is part of the Board's regularly scheduled meeting that begins at 5:30 pm. at the Administration building, 2220 Northwestern Avenue. Call (262) 635-5600.
