Young Writers Now Have Better Chance of Recognition

A new regional judging body for the Scholastic Writing Contest needs judges and sponsors.

It takes a lot of courage to put your work out there for judging, and now, students in Racine and Kenosha who enter the annual Scholastic Writing Contest will have their judging done closer to home.

The new Southeast Wisconsin Scholastic Writing Region takes over judging that used to be done by the Iowa Multi-State Region. Having a smaller, more local panel looking at student entries will increase their chances of having their work move on to the national competition levels.

Students in grades seven through 12 enter their work in categories like journalism, poetry, and novel.
