Crime Corner: Theft Shows an Increase Over the Past Two Weeks

Burglary, theft incidents at the end of June and first week of July increase, but police say much can be prevented.

Lt. Dave Constantineau of the Muskego Police Department posted the Crime Watch report from the past two weeks, and a notable increase in theft .  However, as he explained, citizens can make much of these incidents non-existent if they take extra precautions, such as locking up valuables. 

Thursday, June 23 – A bicycle was reported stolen from Danny Haskell’s on Lannon Dr.  The theft occurred sometime during the previous week.

Saturday, June 25 – Four cars  parked at Mill Valley Elementary School had windows broken and items stolen from them some time after 5:30pm, while the owners attended a baseball game.

Monday, June 27

  • Sometime overnight, into the morning hours of June 27, numerous unlocked vehicles in the Champion’s Village subdivision, off N. Cape Rd. and STH 36, were entered.  The police department took 17 complaints of thefts from vehicles or of vehicles being gone through. 
  • A subject in the W15500 block of Sandalwood Dr. had a laptop stolen from his vehicle. 
  • A trailer at KMP Enterprises on Saturn Dr. was broken into, and several tools stolen, during the previous night.
  • A 20 year old Milwaukee man was charged with employee theft after stealing from Walmart.

Thursday, June 30 – A shed in the S6300 block of Lentini Dr. was entered, but nothing was taken.

Friday, July 1 – Jewelry was taken from a residence in the S7800 block of Overlook Bay Dr. 

Saturday, July 2 – A shed in the S7900 block of Pioneer Dr. was entered and burglarized, and two sheds in the W18100 block of West Tower Dr. had someone attempt to burglarize them.
 

Thursday, July 7 – A bicycle was reported stolen from the Muskego Public Library around 2:30pm.
