Muskego Woman Charged With Stealing Boyfriend's Cash and Car

Complaint alleges suspect took the items and intended to never return to her boyfriend.

A 50-year-old Muskego woman is facing charges after she allegedly stole her boyfriend’s cash and car as she planned to leave him and never come back.

Tracie J. Flaherty was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and one count of misdemeanor theft after she took the items in February. If convicted, she faces up to six years and nine months in prison, and $20,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, on Feb. 17 Flaherty’s boyfriend called police because his girlfriend had stolen his vehicle and stole $560 he kept locked in a fireproof safe. Although Flaherty didn’t have keys to the safe or the vehicle, her boyfriend told investigators he kept spare keys in a pair of black socks.
