Teen Tobacco 'Test' Reveals High Marks for Muskego Businesses

Police conduct underage test to determine if businesses are compliant, and are pleased with results.

The Muskego Police Department reported that a periodic 'test' of compliance with underage tobacco use laws among businesses was conducted, and the results were positive, although according to Lieutenant David Constantineau, not surprising.

"Our department will enlist the assistance of underage people to help us ensure that establishments in the city are not selling alcohol or tobacco products to underage people," he said.  "This week we performed an underage tobacco enforcement exercise.  I am very pleased to report that, with one exception, all of the establishments we went to would not sell cigarettes to our underage volunteer."

Constantineau also said, "honestly, I am not surprised by these results," indicating that businesses have been proactive in enforcing the laws.
