Crazy-Driving OWI Suspect Just Looking for a Hotel Room

Oak Creek police responded to the area of W. Puetz Rd. and S. 27th St. on Jan. 22 on a report of a drunk driver.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police responded to the area of W. Puetz Rd. and S. 27th St. on Jan. 22 on a report of a drunk driver.

According to the police report, the driver of a vehicle traveled south on S. 13th St. and W. Wynona, where it nearly struck another vehicle.

The person who called police reportedly followed the vehicle, and observed the driver come to a complete stop in the middle of the road on S. 13th St., hit a median and pole at the intersection of S. 13th St. and W. Puetz Rd., nearly strike another vehicle, swerve from ditch to ditch outside of the lanes, and crossing the center line approximately four times on W. Puetz Rd. and then make a U-Turn on a red traffic signal at S. 27th St. and W. Puetz.

An officer located the suspect, who was reportedly observed attempting to enter numerous motel rooms in the area.

Police administered field sobriety tests, which the driver reportedly failed. A preliminary breath test resulted in a BAC of 0.12 - greater than Wisconsin's legal limit for OWI.

The driver was issued a citation for OWI-1st.
