Injured Dog Bites Would-be Rescuer in Oak Creek

A dog that went missing and was struck by a car bit a concerned citizen who attempted to rescue the dog in Oak Creek this month.

OAK CREEK, WI -- A dog that went missing and was struck by a car bit a concerned citizen who attempted to rescue the dog in Oak Creek this month.

According to Oak Creek police reports, a woman came into the police department to report being bitten by a dog on Dec. 15 after attempting to rescue a dog. She told police she attempted to rescue the dog because it had appeared to be injured from being struck by a car on E. Forest Hill Ave.

The report stated that she found the dog, and attempted to look at the dog's collar when she was bit in the right hand, causing puncture wounds. The dog ran off from the scene, and was described as being all black, tan and white in the collar area and weighed approximately 30 pounds.

When officers investigated, they learned that the dog had been reported missing the day before the woman was bit, and was turned into police by someone else one day after she was bit.

When the woman came into the police department to report the dog bite, she learned that the dog was currently in surgery to have its hip replaced, and that the dog's vaccination was up-to-date.
