Man Says One Beer, Police Say 0.24 ... And Drunk Driving

An Oak Creek man was arrested and cited for operating while intoxicated and his vehicle was towed from the area.

OAK CREEK, WI — On Aug. 8, Oak Creek Police responded to the 8700 block of S. 27th Street on a report of a vehicle swerving out of its lane, changing speeds randomly and turning on its blinker without turning.

The officer conducted a traffic stop just after 2:20 a.m. the officer immediately observed the strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle and noticed the driver had bloodshot eyes.

When the officer talked with the driver, he admitted to drinking one beer that evening.

According to the police report, the driver failed standard field sobriety tests, and a preliminary breath test came back with a 0.19 blood alcohol concentration.

An intoximeter test later that evening returned a 0.24 blood alcohol concentration. He was arrested and cited for operating while intoxicated and his vehicle was towed from the area.
