Oak Creek Fire Called After Children Try Cooking French Fries; Start Grease Fire
Officers investigated, and learned that children in the home were cooking french fries on the stove when a grease fire started.

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek police and fire were dispatched to a home on the 1200 block of Maass Dr. on a report of a grease fire.
According to police, a neighbor reported a kitchen fire at a house next door. Officers investigated, and learned that children in the home were cooking french fries on the stove when a grease fire started.
According to the report, one of the children put the pan in the sink, and turned on the water, causing the grease to splatter onto the drapes and blinds over the sink, setting them on fire.

The children stayed at their neighbor's house until the mother returned home, according to the report.
There was damage to the window frame over the sink and black smoke stains on the walls in the kitchen area as a result of the Jan. 23 incident, according to police.
