Oak Creek Hit-And-Run Drunk Driver Can't Elude the Driver She Struck; Faces 4th OWI in 5 Years

OAK CREEK, WI — A 45-year-old Oak Creek woman was charged with her fourth OWI in five years after running into a fellow motorist in Oak Creek, and then reportedly driving away.
She did not elude the person she struck, however, as the driver followed her to her address, and called for police when the vehicle stopped.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Oak Creek Police were dispatched to a hit and run accident at 300 block West Ryan Road. A motorist reported to police that he was stopped at a red light when a 2004 Pontiac rear ended his vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, the driver of the struck vehicle stated that he approached the striking vehicle to talk to the female driver, later identified as Danna Jean Hayes, 45, of Oak Creek.
At that point, the defendant drove around him and fled the scene without providing any information. The driver followed the vehicle until it pulled into a driveway, and stated that he waited until the police arrived and spoke with the defendant, the criminal complaint stated.

Police arrived at the defendant’s address and located the defendant in her running Pontiac. When police attempted to speak to the defendant, however, she kept rolling down the back windows, police reported.
According to the criminal complaint, the vehicle was still in drive and the defendant kept turning the car on and off. After multiple attempts, the defendant was able to finally open the correct window.
The defendant attempted field sobriety tests and performed poorly on the tests, exhibiting poor balance and multiple clues of impairment. The defendant provided a sample to a preliminary breath test, which registered a 0.18 - double Wisconsin's legal limit for OWI, the complaint stated.
According to the criminal complaint, records indicate that the defendant has been convicted of or revoked for an OWI related offense on three prior occasions, and that at least one of those offense occurred within the 5 years preceding this offense:
