Oak Creek Police Catch Liquor Theft Suspect Red-Handed, Implicated in $1,800 in 4 Theft Cases

A 41-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged after reportedly stealing more than $1,800 from Oak Creek stores in a two-week period.

OAK CREEK -- A 41-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged after reportedly stealing more than $1,800 from Oak Creek stores in a two-week period.

Police say that Anthony Brown stole the following amounts of liquor from three Oak Creek-area retailers between late August and mid-September:

Aug. 29: Meijer $324
Aug. 30: Woodman's $681
Aug. 31: Woodman's $579
Sep. 14: Pick 'n Save $237

It was the last reported theft that did Brown in.

According to Brown's criminal complaint, Oak Creek Police officers were heading into the Pick N’ Save at 8770 South Howell Avenue, when they intercepted Brown, who was leaving the store with a grocery cart full of items that he did not pay for without the consent of the merchant.

Police say surveillance video captured at the Aug. 29, 30 and 31 incidents in Oak Creek all implicated Brown in those thefts.

Brown has been charged with felony retail thef and could face up to $10,000 in fines or up to 18 months in prison - or both - if he is convicted.

Brown is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail on a $1,000 cash bond. His next appearance in court is scheduled for Oct. 3.
