Oak Creek Police Officer Wakes Up Drunk Driver - In the Middle of an Intersection

An Oak Creek police officer woke an apparent drunk driver up by slapping the window of her car - which was in the middle of 13th St.

OAK CREEK, WI — An Oak Creek police officer woke an apparent drunk driver up by slapping the window of her car - which was in the middle of 13th St. and running.

An Oak Creek police officer responded to the intersection of S. 13th St. and W. Ryan Rd. just after 10 p.m. on Feb. 7 on a report of a driver passed out in his vehicle at the intersection.

According to the report, the driver of the vehicle was slumped over to the center of the vehicle and had sat through several cycles of red and green lights - all the while fortunately having her foot on the brake in her vehicle, which was running and in drive.

When an officer arrived on-scene, they saw that all doors were locked on the car, and the female driver wasn't responding to light knocking on the door.

The officer then used their hand to slap the window hard - which startled the driver awake.
When the driver opened the door, the officer observed her eyes to be glassy, her speech to be slurred and the strong odor of intoxicants coming from inside the vehicle.

The officer administered field sobriety tests, which the driver subsequently failed, according to the report.
When the officer questioned the female driver on her evening, she replied that she had 5 glasses of wine downtown with her friends.
