Oak Creek Principal With 3rd OWI Charge Still On Payroll

The Oak Creek High School associate principal was arrested in December with a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit.

OAK CREEK, MI — An Oak Creek High School associate principal is due back in court April 4 on her third-offense drunken driving charge, but remains on the school payroll, according to media reports.

Kimberly Leannais, 42, of Waterford, was arrested at 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 16, 2016, by the Norway Police Department in December with a blood alcohol content of .197, which is more than twice the legal limit in Wisconsin.

She is charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (third offense, alcohol fine enhancer), and operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration (third offense, alcohol fine enhancer).

Tim Culver, superintendent of the Oak Creek-Franklin Joint School District, told WITI-TV that school officials didn’t learn of Leannais’ arrest until last week. A second-year principal, she remains on the payroll as school officials await the conclusion of the investigation.

“I don’t want to see her fired,” Oak Creek High School student Trent Holm told TMJ-TV, “but she needs help, definitely.”

Another student, Penelope Ryan-Thiessan, told WITI-TV Leannis is well-liked.

“Every time I talked with her, she was always very kind, always understanding,” Ryan-Thiessen said. “She never got frustrated with anyone. She had a really calm, nice composure.”
