Police Find Gun 'Hidden by Some Toys' During Domestic Violence Incident

Oak Creek police responded to a domestic violence call Sunday, after a man broke through a window after he was locked out of a house.

OAK CREEK -- Oak Creek police responded to an apartment on the 8300 block of S. Newbury Drive just before 3 a.m. Sunday on a report of a domestic violence incident.

According to the report, a female was with the male at a South Milwaukee bar when the male reportedly became intoxicated. An unspecified dispute took place resulting in the female walking home.

The report stated that the dispute continued when the female arrived at home and the male was already there. According to the report, the female attempted to bar the male from re-entering as he was taking some of his belongings to the car.

The male tried to open the door, but the female forced the door closed during the dispute. According to the report, the male suspect then ripped the screen off a ground-floor window and gained entry to the residence.

Man Grabs Female By the Throat

The report states that a physical dispute took place, and that the male grabbed the female by the throat and slammed her down on to the couch, causing her head to strike the counter.

When officers arrived, they found a male suspect who intially refused to obey officers commands.

Gun, Magazine Found

The man was ultimately placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. Upon search, a loaded magazine was found in his front sweatshirt pocket. The man admitted to officers that he had a gun, and that it was hidden between some toys that were located near his feet.

Officers found a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber SD40 VE handgun. They also found a 4-inch glass pipe with burnt marijuana residue in the bowl.

A breath test administered to the suspect revealed the man had a 0.11 BAC. The man was charged with criminal damage to property, operating/ going armed with a firearm while intoxicated, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, and was taken into custody.
