Ringing Cell Phone in Bushes Leads Oak Creek Police to Missing Franklin Juvenile

A ringing cell phone led Oak Creek police to apprehend at least one of two juveniles who were reported missing out of the City of Franklin.

OAK CREEK -- A ringing cell phone led Oak Creek police to apprehend at least one of two juveniles who were reported missing out of the City of Franklin recently.

Franklin Police requested Oak Creek police check the skate park Abendschein Park just after 11:30 p.m. Monday on a report of the two missing juveniles.

According to the report, one of the juveniles was at Abendschein Park, but took off running shortly after Oak Creek police arrived on the scene. Police say that juvenile was apprehended on the 1000 block of Manitowoc Ave. after a brief foot pursuit by the officer.

The other juvenile also took off running with another person, and both were taken into custody after a foot chase that led them to the 1000 block of E. Mackinac Ave. According to the report, one Oak Creek police officer engaged in a foot pursuit, following one of the juveniles and another person through the fenced-in back yards along the 1000 block of E. Drexel Ave.

The officer continued pursuing them westbound and then northbound to approximately the 1000 block of E. Mackinac.

The officer noticed the foot prints stop near a large brush area and then heard a cell phone ringing in the bushes. The officer alertly located both suspects in the bushes and took them both into custody.

Both missing juveniles were turned over to the Franklin Police Department at Abendschein Park.
