Woman Pays $9.99 Per Gallon Of Gas On Accident: Report

A woman told police that she didn't realize the BP gas station in Oak Creek had yet to open when she began pumping gas - at $9.99 per gallon

OAK CREEK, WI — A Racine woman experienced some pain at the pump when she tried to fill her car at the new BP gas station that has yet to open on the corner of W. Ryan Road and S. Howell Ave. in Oak Creek.

According to police reports, the woman came to the police station on May 4 to report that she pumped six gallons of gas into her vehicle, and was charged more than $60. When the woman went into the store, a clerk there told her that the gas station was not yet open for business.

Reports indicated that she went to the BP just before noon on May 4 and purchased 6.468 gallons of gasoline at $9.99 per gallon for a total of $64.67.

The woman told the clerk - and later the police - that she did not realize the price sign was not on, nor that the store was open. When she realized that the price was $9.99 a gallon, she stopped filling her vehicle.

Police told the woman to dispute the charge on her credit card and also with her bank.
