City lifeguard leaders urge swimmers to know their limits, closely supervise children, use proper flotation devices, and call 911 immediately if they see trouble in the water.

Miguel Cruz faces September retrial in Juanita Zdroik killing as plea talks continue (racinecountyeye.com) — A long-running Racine County homicide case is headed for a September retrial after a judge threw out Miguel Cruz's 2021 conviction in the killing of Juanita Zdroik. Prosecutors and the defense are still discussing a possible plea, while new rulings on DNA evidence and investigator credibility could significantly change what a Racine County jury hears this time.
   

3. Racine alderman Grace Allen to compete for Mrs. America in Las Vegas (racinecountyeye.com) — Racine alderman and school board member Grace Allen is heading to Las Vegas this week to compete for the Mrs. America title, representing Wisconsin on the national stage. She'll spotlight women's wellness and financial literacy through her "Makeup Coffee Money" initiative and promote substance-use prevention work with Victoria's Voice Foundation.
   

4. Racine County deputy charged after 3-year-old daughter shoots man and child during turkey hunt (tmj4.com) — A Racine County sheriff's deputy is facing criminal charges after his 3-year-old daughter accidentally shot a man and child during an April youth turkey hunt in the Town of Rochester. Authorities say Deputy James Lehman is on administrative leave while state and internal investigations proceed, and officials are highlighting hunter education rules and safety principles that could help prevent similar incidents in Racine County.
