Blood donor will attend Green Bay vs. Tampa Bay game December 21

Milwaukee, Wis. β€” December 16, 2014 β€” BloodCenter of Wisconsin has selected a Pewaukee blood donor and his guest to be flown to Florida to attend the Green Bay vs, Tampa Bay game on Sunday, December 21. Donn Hoffmann of Pewaukee saved the day for patients in need this holiday season, and is now the lucky winner of end zone tickets; round trip airfare to Florida; a Green Bay fan tailgate party and two night’s accommodations.

β€œI’m a huge fan,” said Hoffmann. β€œGrowing up, my family vacationed north of Green Bay every summer. We always stopped at Lambeau Field on the way to watch the team practice. I’ve been a fan ever since.”

All attempting donors who donated at a BloodCenter donor center between November 24 and December 11 were automatically entered into the drawing.

Hoffmann was randomly drawn as part of a promotion by BloodCenter of Wisconsin to encourage blood donations. Donations begin to dip in December when people become busy with holiday activities, and when weather becomes inclement.

As a blood donor for nearly 30 years, Hoffman’s reason for donating is simple, β€œI think it’s just an absolutely wonderful gift to give,” he said.

Donations of all blood types are still needed, but there is an especially great need for O negative donors. Anyone 17 or older who is in general good health and meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to donate blood. 16-year-olds may donate with parental consent.

To schedule an appointment call 1-877-BE-A-HERO (1-877-232-4376), or by visiting www.bcw.edu or m.bcw.edu on their mobile device.

Appointments are preferred to ensure a quick and convenient donation, but walk-in donors are also welcome. The entire process takes about an hour. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes birth date.
