Car Fire Spread To Home And Garage: Report

Firefighters arrived on the scene and reported that a car was on fire in the driveway of a home on the 400 block of N. Washington Ave.

WAUKESHA, WI -- Firefighters extinguished a car fire that spread to a neighboring house and garage early Thursday morning. Fire officials estimated the blaze caused about $10,000 in damage. Nobody was injured as a result of the fire, Waukesha fire officials said.

The Waukesha Fire Department responded to a home at 464 N. Washington Ave. on a report of a possible structure fire just after 8 a.m. Thursday.

Fire department personnel arrived on the scene and reported that a car on fire in the driveway of the home right in front of a two-car detached garage that was located behind the house, which is a two-story single-family home.

Waukesha fire officials said the home and adjacent residence were safely evacuated. The fire was quickly extinguished, with the car sustaining heavy damage and the garage and home minor exterior damage.

A second car inside the garage was not damaged, officials said. The fire was investigated by the fire and police departments. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
