Chosen Inc. Opens Second “Family Closet” This Week in West Allis
New office will provide clothing and children's items to foster and adoptive families
West Allis, Wis. – Chosen Inc. (“Chosen”), a non-profit ministry dedicated to supporting foster and adoptive parenting, will open its second “Family Closet,” which provides free clothing and children’s items to foster and adoptive families, this week.
The new location, modeled after The Family Closet in Chosen’s Waukesha office, is at 6751 W. Greenfield Ave. A ribbon-cutting will be held March 1 at 4 p.m. to celebrate its opening, followed by an open house. Event sponsorships are available starting at $250.
“This new office has been years in the making. We cannot thank enough all of the volunteers and dedicated staff who helped make it a reality,” said Karen Schlindwein, Vice-President of Education and Development for Chosen. “The need for this second Family Closet is abundant. Milwaukee County places 100 children a month with foster families. We want to help wherever possible, to ensure the foster families are supported in providing these children a loving home.”

Due to limited staffing and volunteer availability, both the West Allis and Waukesha locations serve families by appointment only.
Since its founding in 2016, Chosen has served more than 475 families from 13 southeastern Wisconsin counties, caring for more than 1,000 foster or adopted children. The Family Closet in Waukesha has given away more than 35,500 items to families since opening in May 2017.

Chosen’s next big event, its “Walk on the Wild Side for Foster Care,” will be held Sept. 10 at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Chosen is dedicated to educating the public about the impact of adoption and fostering, and providing spiritual, material, and emotional support to families who have chosen these oft-misunderstood paths. Chosen shares resource referrals to other organizations and professionals to help meet the needs of adoptive and foster families. Its long-term goals include opening a multi-family foster community to care for children in need of a loving home.
