Hemorrhagic disease outbreak hits Waukesha County deer herd (gmtoday.com) — Wildlife officials are tracking a significant outbreak of epizootic hemorrhagic disease in Waukesha County's deer herd, with more than 150 suspected cases since early August. While humans aren't at risk, residents who spot dead or sick deer, especially near water, are urged to report details and locations to the DNR's Wildlife Switchboard to help monitor the spread.

2. Criminal charges filed against Sun Badger Solar owners in Waukesha County (tmj4.com) — Prosecutors in Waukesha County have filed theft-by-contractor charges against former Sun Badger Solar co-owner Trevor Sumner, following complaints from customers who say they paid thousands for panels that were never installed. A court commissioner set his cash bail at $10,000, and both Sumner and his former partner now face criminal cases in multiple Wisconsin counties tied to the defunct company.

3. 4. Giffin uses Waukesha County connection as inspiration for new book (gmtoday.com) — An Atlanta author has set her newest bestselling novel in Waukesha County, drawing heavily on Lake Country landmarks like Arrowhead High School and local family ties in Merton. Her story follows a Wisconsin native torn between a New York career and her roots back home, and she recently returned to the area for a book tour stop in Brookfield.

5. New trail connects Oconomowoc and Watertown via major county collaboration (gmtoday.com) — A new 12.5-mile trail connection now links Oconomowoc and Watertown, completing the western segment of Waukesha County's Lake Country Trail and expanding the system to over 15 miles.
