Open House for Peru: Treasures and Antiquities 2012 Tour (UW-Waukesha Continuing Education)

The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha Continuing Education department is introducing local community members to the most unusual and well preserved archaeological wonders in the worlds.   Led by anthropologist and UW-Waukesha Professor Bob Birmingham, this popular trip explores the complex civilization developing in the Americas at the same time similar civilizations were rising in Egypt and Mesopotamia.

A free information session Open House will be held at UW-Waukesha, Wednesday, March 30 at 6 p.m., in the UW-Waukesha Commons Building, room C101. The Open House includes a presentation and a Q&A with instructor Bob Birmingham and tour director Vic Passante.

Travelers on this trip will arrive in beautiful Lima, before flying off to discover the treasures of Cusco. Explore the Inca architecture of Machu Pichu and fly over the mysterious Nazca lines,  giant geometrical and animal figures etched on the desert sands by the Nazca people 1,500 years ago, seen only from the air.  Our final destination will be Caral, the oldest city in the Americas where we will trek to the magnificent archaeological sites, monuments, and museums in the cradle of civilization for the Americas.
