Mike Schamens Elected as President of Wisconsin Guild of Chimney Service Specialists

Quality Fireplace owner will lead statewide organization of chimney professionals

Waukesha, Wis. – Mike Schamens, owner of Quality Fireplace Inc., Waukesha, has been elected President of the Wisconsin Guild of Chimney Service Specialists.

Schamens, a Certified Chimney Sweep and a veteran of the fireplace and chimney industry, will serve a two-year term as President. He has been a member since 2012, most recently serving as the organization’s Vice-President.

Schamens founded Quality Fireplace Inc. in 1983. The company focuses on cleaning, repairing and relining chimneys in residential homes.

“I’m very pleased and grateful to be elected President of the Wisconsin Guild of Chimney Service Specialists, which upholds standards of professionalism and knowledge for chimney professionals throughout the state,” Schamens said. “Chimneys are an essential part of every home. Homeowners trust us to keep them functioning and safe, a commitment that our members vow to uphold by always operating honestly and ethically.”

Schamens is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business.

The city of Waukesha Landmarks Commission awarded Schamens and his wife, Denise, the George W. Gunn Award for excellence in architectural preservation and historic restoration in May. The award honored the Quality Fireplace office at 407 N. Grand Ave., in downtown Waukesha.

Quality Fireplace promotes regular chimney cleaning and maintenance to avoid often-expensive chimney repairs, and prevent life-threatening chimney fires. Besides WGCSS, the company is also a member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), the Wisconsin Association of Home Inspectors and the National Chimney Sweep Guild.
