Join instructor Michael Mullooly and explore Tibetan Buddhism or “Tantric Buddhism” which is an esoteric school of
Buddhism. One must be initiated into its secret teachings. In this class
we explore the history and development of the Tantric path. We analyze
the spiritual practices and colorful personalities of the four great
schools of Tibetan Buddhism: Nyingma, Kagyu, Sakya, and Geluk -- the
Dalai Lama’s own sect. We delve into the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and
journey through the Tibetan understanding of re-incarnation and the
afterlife. We devote frequent excursions to the fascinating world of
Tibetan Buddhist iconography, and make friends with its peaceful deities
as well as its wrathful yidams. Join us to increase your understanding
of an intriguing spiritual path which has captivated the imagination of
an American celebrity like Richard Gere, and has made the exiled leader
of Tibet, the Dalai Lama, the darling of the media world. Classes meet every Wednesday from April 9 - May 14 from 6:30-8:30pm. Register at www.waukesha.uwc.edu/ce or 262-521-5460.
